Tarte tartelette in bloom palette review

The Looks

Look 1:
Firecracker (lid & lower lash line)

For the first look I applied all of my favorite shades in this palette. It makes for a pretty everyday look with a bit of added interest. This isn’t too crazy or smokey and wearable to the office, school or any other occasion where a fresh looking easy eye look is appropriate.

I went a little bit more intense with the second look. This isn’t truly a smokey palette, but if you like to go for deeper looks that are still wearable, or if you’re pale like me and black looks just too stark against your skin, then this is a great palette to own. You get plenty of dark shades that aren’t too dark or too stark.

One thing I love about this palette is how easily you can create a full matte look that isn’t boring. Again, nothing too smokey or crazy, yet a nice neutral look that is very wearable. These shades fit my skin tone so nicely that it’s one of my favorite palettes for a simple sculpted eye. It just makes your look classy and polishes within the blink of an eye.

Let’s face it, the packaging is gorgeous

Let’s talk about everything that makes this palette unique and amazing, starting with the packaging. When was the last time you saw a palette this beautiful? I honestly never have. Perhaps it is just my personal style talking, but I just love the delicate flower-petal print and girly colors. It feels very feminine and natural, and it makes me feel pretty when I reach for it. Am I crazy? Actually, don’t answer that.

The outer case is made of a hard plastic, and features a beautiful, high quality mirror inside. The cover moves on a limited-range hinge, so the mirror stands up on its own without you having to hold it or prop it up. For this reason, the palette is perfect for doing your makeup on-the-go. The palette itself measures 4 x 4.75 inches, and about 0.5 inches thick.

Its compact size makes it perfect for travel, while still giving you a variety of color options within the neutral color family. (More on that in a bit.) The case snaps closed securely, so you don’t have to worry about it opening up in your bag and making a mess. And of course, the hard plastic is super durable, so you don’t have to worry about the edges getting squished or beat up in transit.

Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette Tease Palette Review

The Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette Tease Palette retails for $30CAD and contains 6 x 0.85g cool toned eyeshadows. The shadows in the Tartelette Tease palette are infused with Tarte Amazonian Clay.

Packaging

The Tartelette Tease Palette is a cute, albeit small. It fits in the palm of my hand and has a magnetic closure with a mirror inside. I love the gold! I don’t have any complaints in the packaging department here. This palette does feel a little bit small for the price however when you calculate the value of this palette vs. the Tartelette in Bloom palette you get literally half the shadows for half the price. A full size palette from Tarte is about $60CAD for 12 shades. These mini palettes are a great way to try out Tarte’s eyeshadows without spending big on a full palette.

Colour Story

As you can see from the product photos the Tartelette Tease palette is cool toned. The shades aren’t so cool toned that they are grey against the skin but I definitely get a different vibe from this palette then I do from the Tartelette Flirt palette which is all warm toned shades. This colour story is soft and flirty, it’s exactly what I would expect from a palette called Tartelette Tease!

I think that all the shades work together well, however Whisper and Wink could have been much more distinct from each other. Against my skin tone they look almost the same on the eyes.

I really like that there is a gold shimmer shade (Crush) to take your look from day to night as well as a satin purple/pink shade (First Kiss). I love wearing First Kiss all over my eyelids during the day. I feel so put together with that shade on my eyes! The brown matte shade Heartbreaker is great for deepening the outer V, as is bff. That purple matte can be used to create a beautiful halo eye or to deepen the outer V so it’s definitely an interesting shade to have.

Pigmentation, Fallout & Blend

The shadows in the Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette Tease palette are very pigmented, especially when applied directly over a tacky primer or concealer as a base. The lightest shades Whisper and Wink don’t show up well on my eyes because of my pale skin tone but I tend to use one or the other to set my eyeshadow base anyways.

Honestly I rarely experience fallout with these shades. The only shade that might give you a bit of trouble is Crush and even then you can avoid this by tapping off your brush. The formula of this palette is incredibly smooth. The shades glide on the eyes and the mattes don’t give me any trouble blending. The Tartelette Tease palette would be a great palette for someone just getting into makeup who wants to experiment with non-drugstore formulas. I think it’s pretty fool proof!

Однако важно помнить: тени — продукт контактирующий с глазами, а, значит, он должен быть качественным и не раздражать кожу век и слизистую

In comparing this to the original Tartelette palette, the shadows in this one seem a smidge softer but have about the same color payoff. It seems like they aren’t pressed quite as firmly into the pan. These also have a bit more powder kick-up when sweeping a brush over the shadows.

The shades in the original palette are all matte and generally neutral to cool in tone while the Tartelette in Bloom has a good balance of neutral, cool, and warm shades plus 3 shimmery eyeshadows.

The packaging is very similar between the two palettes but the Tartelette in Bloom packaging has a sturdier hinge that holds the mirror up better than the original one. Only the new palette has the sweet fragrance. Both contain the same amount of product and cost the same.

A well balanced and user-friendly palette

Tarte Tartlette In Bloom Palette features a smart shade and texture range that’s sure to please most makeup wearers. The shadows are good quality, and the exterior is durable and easy to travel with.

The Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette can be purchased at Sephora, Ulta, and most other places that Tarte products are sold.

For the $45.00 USD price, and I believe it is completely worth the money. I just love the layout, the color selection, the packaging, the sweet scent… everything. I hope tarte continues to sell this palette for a long, long time, because I’ll probably need another one at some point.

The Swatches

Swatches never lie and as you can see these are some very buttery shades. Especially the mattes are smooth and go on like a dream. These shadows blend perfectly without blending into nothing. Texture wise they are some of the easiest shadows I’ve ever worked with. These do not kick back a ton of powder, nor have a lot of fallout. The shimmers can easily be foiled for an even more intense look.

Stand out shades in the palette are Jetsetter, Firecracker, Rebel and Leader. Firecracker is what makes this palette for me. I cannot use this palette without using this shadow it seems. Rebel is one of the best crease shades in a long time and I love using Jetsetter for blending things out. Leader is a great shade to use to intensify a look without going overboard.

Firecracker is similar to:

Unattainable (Lorac Unzipped) – Slightly brighter, and has a thinner, grittier texture that doesn’t adhere as well to the skin
Chai (Lorac Pro to Go) – Nearly identical, chai is maybe a hair warmer-toned
Mocha (Lorac Pro Palette 2) – A bit more muted and cooler-toned
Chopper (Urban Decay Naked 2) – Somewhat brighter, with a smoother finish and micro glitter, which Firecracker does not have
Trick (Urban Decay Naked 3) – Brighter, pinker, and has a significant amount of micro glitter

Top row — cool colors

The first row of colors (top left to right) consists of four cool-toned colors. The colors include, Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, and Smokeshow. (Photo of the palette above shows the colors as being slightly cooler than they are in real life, but the swatches are pretty true-to-color.)

Rocker and Jetsetter are the standouts in this row. They are both super pigmented and buttery, and neither color is dusty. They both blend on the skin, and into other shadows, very well. Rocker is a cool-toned matte brown, while Jetsetter is a shimmery medium taupe.

Charmer is slightly powdery, but that is typical for a light colored matte. Smokeshow is pretty good, but I did have to go over the swatch a couple of times to achieve really deep pigmentation. The texture of the shadow also has a stiffer and drier feel than the rest when I dipped my finger into it for the swatch.

Tartelette Tease Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

All of the shades in the palette swatched pretty well on my arm, but what matters is how the shades perform on the eyes. As I said Whisper and Wink don’t show up the best against my pale skin but Whisper is the ideal shade for setting my eye primer and Wink is a good first transition shade.

First Kiss is stunning on the eyes, I wear it all over my lid most of the time with Crush popped into the centre of my eyelid for some sparkle. I love that the Tartelette Tease palette contains a cool toned purple shade. It’s great for the outer corners of my eyes, but if I’m not feeling the purple I can grab the shade Heartbreaker which is a little bit of a warmer brown.

Final Thoughts

The Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette Tease palette is a great everyday palette, especially in the Fall & Winter. It would be a great addition to any travel makeup bag and it could very well be the only palette I would think about taking on vacation because of it’s size and quality. It really is a “Teaser” for other Tarte Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes!

Какие ошибки при выборе можно допустить?

Ассортимент палеток велик. Многие покупательницы теряются в выборе. Не допустить ошибки помогут следующие рекомендации:

При использовании контактных линз, стоит отказаться от сухих теней. Поскольку пигментированные частицы могут попасть глаза. Возникнет дискомфорт и раздражение роговицы.
У каждой косметики есть определенный срок годности. При частом использовании теней, можно покупать палетки с малым сроком хранения. Если косметический продукт используется редко, то лучше приобрести его с продолжительным сроком годности.
При возрастном макияже следует воздержаться от использования теней с блестками или высоким содержанием пигментации. Частицы могут заполнить образовавшиеся морщинки, и не опрятно выделить их.
При малом опыте использования косметики, лучше отказаться от жидких теней. Обладательница косметического средства просто не успеет его качественно растушевать на коже. Причиной тому является быстрое высыхание жидких частиц.
По мнению покупателей, добиться устойчивости теней поможет предварительное нанесение базы. Наличие условия позволит добиться не только устойчивого нанесения, но и получить насыщенный яркий цвет.

Worth Buying?

This has quickly become one of my favorite palettes. Despite the few cons below, I would absolutely purchase this again.

Pros

Overall great color payoff
Smooth, creamy texture
Blends easily
Well thought-out shade selection
Perfect for neutral/natural looks, students, work, travel
Beautiful, sturdy packaging

Cons

Funny Girl and Firecracker require a little bit of a learning curve because they do have some fallout. They also have issues sticking to skin if you tend to have very dry eyelids. A primer can help with this.
Smokeshow and Activist don’t look all that different once applied to the lids.
The fragrance in it could be a problem for those that are sensitive.
They don’t always last all day on me if I don’t wear a primer underneath.

Good overall shadow quality, with a few exceptions

Since I got this palette, I have tested out all the shades to see how they wear, as well as how they swatch. There is only one shade that I am disappointed with, but we’ll get into that in a bit. Overall, I found that the shadows wore for an exceptionally long time on my lids without creasing. I tested them with several different eyeshadow primers, and I didn’t have a problem with any of them.

The blend ability in general is also great. None of the colors stuck to my lid and refused to move, (I’m sure you know the feeling,) nor did they blend away into nothingness.

The Colours

The first row of shadows consists of cool toned neutrals. This row could be great for a more smokey eye or if you prefer that lived in rocker chic look.

Charmer is a matte off white.
Jetsetter is a matte light taupe.
Rocker is a shimmery taupe.
Smokeshow is a matte blackened grey.

Row no. 2 consists of mostly neutral shades, but these lean towards the warmer end of the spectrum. However, these provide a great middle ground between the top and bottom rows.

Flower Child is a matte cream
Smarty Pants is a matte beige
Firecracker is a shimmery warm brown
Activist is a matte dark brown

The third row of shades is very much warm toned. There is a distinct reddish undertone to these and these make for some great blending shades.

Funny Girl is a shimmery champagne
Sweetheart is a matte flesh tone
Rebel is a matte terracotta
Leader is a matte medium brown

The Packaging

Packaging wise this is one of the best palettes out there. It is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, is sleek and slim, yet also looks fun and classy. I am a huge fan of the pink/ purple floral print on the front. It makes the palette stand out and easy to find and it is simply pretty.

Despite it’s smallish size, this palette comes with 12 shades and a big mirror in the lid. The mirror and its compact size are what makes this palette perfect for travel. There is no brush included with this palette, but apart from Anastasia and Urban Decay’s brushes I’m never too fussed about those. The palette comes with an instruction card too, but I never use those.
