Greetings!

I’ve been testing the Tarteist Pro palette for two months now, and I’m ready to share my opinion on it.

This palette was ordered on the official website, but despite the fact that the box was neatly packed the lightest refill came broken. It has stained its ‘neighbors’ as well. The matte lid was dirty too, and that’s one of the minuses for me.

There are 20 shades in the palette, 16 matte and 4 iridescent ones.

There is a big mirror in the lid. Some might think it’s a big disadvantage, and I hate this mirror because it gets dirty in a heartbeat!

By the way, the lid doesn’t open 180 degrees. The shades smell of vanilla, and that’s so sweet.

I have to note that it’s the most thought through palette I’ve ever laid my eyes on. When you open it, you immediately see which shades will fit the under brow area, which are for the eye crease and which for the lid.

Let’s take a look at the swatches:

I prefer to photograph 4 shades at once :

In this photo, all the shades are soft, highly pigmented and blendable, but may crumble when you pick them up with a brush. The lightest are the most fragile, I know they suffer the most during delivery. The shades Classic and Vintage are great to highlight the under brow area. Innocent and Fierce are perfect transition colors.

All the swatches are made by daylight, without eyeshadow base. I haven’t used any filters. The first swatch is made with my finger, the second with the brush. As you can see, the color payoff is great.

The next four shades are vivid and saturated too. Whimsy and No Filter are soft and easy to work with, they look great in the eye crease. Smoked and Vamp are rather dry. They even feel different and may be patchy, especially the Vamp.

The next shades are perfect for smooth transition. They are versatile and wonderful.

These are highly pigmented, regardless of whether applied with fingers or a brush.

The last four shades are Mod and Edgy, which are soft, highly pigmented and easy to apply. However, the next two, Drama and Punk are less saturated. They are rather dry and hard, and the color payoff is worse. I wouldn’t say it was a disappointment because I use dark shades quite rarely, only in the outer corner of the eye.

Now to the iridescent shades! These are wonderful, even though I’d recommend to apply them wet in order to get higher pigmentation.

For my makeups, I use the UD Eyeshadow Base.This palette has become my favorite.

Tarte eyeshadows have long become a hit, especially their famous Tartelette palettes. So I’ve decided to give one of them a go and purchased the Tarte Tartelette Tease Clay Palette.

I got it in a set with mascara and a lipstick for a discounted price. So I advise you follow their offers, because the whole set costed me less than a standalone Tarte eyeshadow palette.

After watching a few video reviews of this product, I could estimate the approximate size of it. However, it turned out to be smaller than I expected. I thought that it would have been the size of my phone at least. Nevertheless I’m not at all disappointed.

What I particularly like is the nice exteriors. I love the packaging with unicorns, lovely design and tissue paper inside the paper package.

It has only 6 colors, but they are really well put together.

Well, I can’t be talking about the shades before I tell you more details about the palette. It has a big and quite handy mirror, although the palette itself is tiny.

The eyeshadow pan is glossy and golden and the palette itself is pink-purple and has a magnetic fastening.

The magnet holds the cap securely closed, so it won’t pop open accidentally in your purse. The palette fits inside the palm of my hand. It’s compact and easy to use. It fits even the tiniest purse.

Moreover, the eyeshadow smells so adorable! It reminds me of hot chocolate or vanilla. The scent is enjoyable and not at all chemical or suffocating.

So, now let’s move on to the shadows. The palette consists of 6 shades, 2 of which are light, 2 medium and 2 dark. So you can create at least 2 different makeup looks.

However, it ensures way more than just two looks.

I loved the names of the hues too. I always pay attention to details.

This is the lightest shade with a hint of pink. However, it’s neutral in general. It’s not chalky. The quality is great. It applies and distributes on my skin very well.

To avoid repeating the same words, I’d like to say that the eyeshadow is of amazing quality. It applies and blends out easily. It’s neither streaky nor chalky. Also, it doesn’t crease or leave any fallout behind.

It’s highly pigmented and has a silky smooth texture. All in all, I love using it, because it’s so nice to the touch.

Have I already mentioned that it smells like chocolate and vanilla? The scent is pretty long-lasting, but so subtle and hardly noticeable that it doesn’t put me off at all.

I only wonder during the day what this lovely scent is

I can’t say that it’s dusty while applying.

The texture is silky smooth and the application is not streaky.

I’d really like to try the other eyeshadow palettes from Tarte. The quality is on fleek. I’m also pleased with the performance and all features of this palette.

Moreover, I feel like reaching for it everyday! It’s nice to hold, use and look at.

The packaging is awesome. It’s very compact and purple with gold trim. The names are printed under each shade, which I absolutely love. It’s surprisingly lightweight, making it ideal for travel. It’s pretty sturdy too.

The value is great. You’re getting 12 full size eyeshadows for the price of $44. For a comparable rate, 12 full size Urban Decay Eyeshadows (each .05 oz) would cost you $216 while 12 full size MAC refill pans (each .04 oz) would be $120. So no matter how you slice it, the Tartelette palette is a good deal.

As you know, I love mattes for my hooded eyes, specifically to help me fake a crease. So I love seeing an entire palette of mattes, even if there are a ton of brown tones I can’t personally use. I think the quality is really nice.

All of the eyeshadows swatched beautifully. Free Spirit and Super Mom are good for base shades, matte highlighters, or to blend out other colors. Force of Nature and Caregiver would make good lid shades. Power Player is a great transition or crease color. Dreamer, Caregiver, Best Friend and Wanderer would make great crease colors. Fashionista, Bombshell and Multi-Tasker make great liner and accent colors.

I think the second row is supposed to be pinks, mauves and purples, but aside from Caregiver being an obvious pink, the other colors don’t look like that to me. I wish that Natural Beauty did have mauve tones, that Best Friend was more of a blackberry type of color, and that Bombshell was a blackened violet. But, despite the lack of purple tones, they’re nice colors.

If you are a fan of mattes and natural shades, you should definitely check out the Tartelette palette. As you can see from my Bad Blood tutorial, it plays well with shimmery shades and you can pair it with brights, too.
